thinking out loud...

Contemplating a turkey picata for dinner tonight. january's martha stewart living has a recipe for chicken with lemon butter sauce, which sounds pretty close to a picata just minus the capers, but they have it served over raw spinach. that sounds really good right now...

organizing thursday...

I dedicated a large portion of today to the search for items to assist in the endless task of organizing my craft space and now the store. Actually, i was searching for a desk for husband, but that was a horrible failure. I'm sure i will end up going to the over priced furniture store that is in santa cruz and spend way more than i planned, but we will also have that desk forever and ever so it ends up being worth it, right? stupid grown up junk!

anywho, so whilst i was looking for something to help husband out, i remembered the set of shelves directly behind me at my desk. (oh, there are more equally messy shelves in a little closet by the garage in which i have planted my holly* flag and claimed as my own, but these are current crap, erm product that i'm working with...)

This is the image that i remembered... actually, i pictured more glitter,
but thats just a mental thing....

so, i gave in. I bought an expedit unit. but i only got the medium one.

I figured i would lay it on its side and use the top for storage too. its a little long and going to stick out a bit, BUT i already have crap blocking part of the walkway, so what'a a little more, right?

OK, now i go and try to con the manny into building my shelf so i can keep my organizing thursday mojo going. that and i need to finish writing a newsletter.... hum... anywho, hope all is well!

OH YEA! check out jane's latest blog post over at SBSRUS!!! Super cute embellishments!!!

actual photos AND a challenged!!!

Hey! I finally have some photos of a couple things i've made in the past few days. I really do need to get better at taking photos of my stuff again. a lot goes out, but pratically nothing gets posted. anywho, photos!!!

Last year's pumpkin carving. something i'm really looking forward to again this year! well, the pumpkins were neat, but roasting the pumpkin seeds afterwards was awesome!

This is a layout about a goat. really. thats all. i have no idea what this goat represents other than it was part of my family's farm at some point in time.
just because i've had a couple people as about it, i made the flowers with a 10 seconds studio mold, cut the flowers out and inked with rust, espresso, and butterscotch alcohol inks. i also did the crystals in the background with butterscotch and meadow alcohol inks. OH! and those stitches and that peak of a doily are new from hambly. I already know the stitches are going to make it into the debut kit for The Sampler. Anywho....
btw, i did these as samples for the 1st challenge at SBSRUS. Check it out!

Dont forget, the DT call is still open and rockin&rollin, so if you havent checked out yet, head HERE and get to work!!!

ok, i think its stew for dinner so i need to get to work on that now. its gloomy and fabulous here. yes, it is possible to get sick of the sun sometimes. i plan to take full advantage of this rainy day. hope everyone is enjoying their day as much as i plan to...

"If you don't learn Hebrew, you won't be barmitzvah’ed and, if you're not barmitzvah’ed, I'll die of embarrassment!"

so, tonight we're doing a bar mitzvah for a little 13 year old (no shit...) girl at the Menlo Circus Club. Want to know a little more about this "Circus Club"? Here's what their website says about them:

In 1920, a group of young girls gathered on an Atherton estate to play and ride their ponies. As young children will, these girls formed a "club" and decided to give a circus for the enjoyment of their parents, friends and neighbors. Mrs. W. B. Weir, the mother of one of the girls, suggested that the proceeds of this circus be given to the Stanford Convalescent Home (now called Children's Hospital at Stanford). The first circus was held in the summer of 1920 on the W. B. Weir property at Middlefield Road and Glenwood Avenue. Youngsters performed on their ponies and horses while others brought pet cats, goats and dogs which they had taught to do stunts. The first circus raised $500 for the Stanford Convalescent Home.

The following year, the circus grew. Adults promoted the circus into a social event, drawing people from as far north as San Francisco and as far south as San Jose. The third year, the circus became even larger, as did the social event, and it became obvious to parents the circus had outgrown the two fields. In the fall of 1922, land was purchased for the development of Menlo Circus Club, which was incorporated the following year.

Over the years, the Club has been the scene of outstanding horse shows, polo matches, swimming events, tennis tournaments and gala parties. The Children's Hospital at Stanford continues to hold their annual horse show and party, Tally-Ho, on the Club's grounds. While the present Menlo Circus Club has evolved from its simple family beginnings--children's parties, family picnics, trail rides, etc.--it has always been and continues to be a family club.

Simple family beginnings and children's parties? How about an 80+ kid extravaganza (no to mention the parents...) with photo booths, djs and i dont know what else...

Should be fun.... In honor of tonight, how about we learn a few yiddish phrases:

A gezunt ahf dein kop! - Good health to you (lit., Good health on your head)
A klog iz mir! - Woe is me!
A maidel mit a vayndel - A pony-tailed nymphet.
A shtyfer mogn - Constipated
Choleryeh - Cholera; a curse, plague
Ess, bench, sei a mensch - Eat, pray, don't act like a jerk!

Anywho, hope everyone is having a super saturday and mazel tov!

well, poop.

ok. my hyper organization fails me. i have a few more details to work on before i can get the DT call out there into the world. last night i got distracted by actual crafting projects *gasp* and didnt harass the appropriate people. But all is well. This is why i left plenty of grace period to give everyone who wanted to apply enough time to work on their application. BUT i would like to share a couple of the things i was working on last night. Among other things, i was working on some christmas cards. I dont get the feeling that any of these are "done" yet, but i think they're all good starts.

.
(sorry about the horrible flash, but i was having a hard time getting the detail to show)

anywho, i'm off to work on that project list i made yesterday. have a super thursday everyone!

and then september was over...

omg. my head is spinning. so many super awesome things are in the works these day. I litterally have a headache from the ideas trying to sneak out. Lucky for me, I have sticky notes in bulk... and caffine. magic. As usual, the SBSRUS blog is zooming along. I expect a new giveaway to pop up there in a couple days. This weekend i have a full day of action packed classes. Officially SBSRUS will be releasing a kit club just in time for the holidays. Super excited about putting that together, gathering a team and providing the most way rad kits out there! Unofficially, we have amazing classes and events planned for next year along with maybe even a digital line and omg so much more. See! Head! Spinning!!! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

so, i totally wrote that last week and ran out of time to post, but i'm back for a couple minutes and working on the final details of our DT call that should go out TOMORROW!!! eep!

ok, while i sit her and panic for a few minutes, how about a few photos of a couple new sassafras monstrosity projects?

ok, panic mode complete. back to work. i hope everyone has a wonderful wednesday!
