this to that?

how cool is THIS(to that)?!?!?! i mean, i feel like i know a bit about adhesives from working for sherwin williams to trying to decorate anything that will sit still long enough. but, really. i love generators like this. knowing how to make things stick to other things is much more relevant than knowing what sarah palin would name you as her child

**update: apparently i was adding that blog to my feeds as i was in the process of typing out this update. whoops. fixed now. its nothing about weddings. promise.

these guys are aweomse.

so, i've been on the look out for vinyl wall decals and/or stencils and i bumped into these guys on etsy.

byrdiegraphic's on esty has some of the best wall decal designs i have seen in a long time! super hip. i was thinking of ordering this one:

but i dont know what color. i was thinking the gold or the navy. the wall (which hasnt been painted, but the colors are picked) that it will be on is in the yellow, olive family. the accent wall is going to be a SUPER deep plum. very near black i think. the brick on the fireplace is that deep, brick red. i did a painting that this decal will be above that is done in a very similar gold. not sure how if the repetition of the color will make me happy or not. WHAT COLOR WOULD YOU CHOOSE?

and look at this awesome sofa! can we say awesome? fo realz.

i want to eat these like candy.

so pretty, no? i dont know what i would do with them currently, but i would love to have them in a little dish just like they are in this picture sitting on my desk. which i would probably knock over and make a huge mess out of. or, if i didnt knock them over 1st, the boy would sneak them out and squirl away with them instead and i would be findng heart beads for the next 6 months. (i find buttons in the strangest places...) anywho, so much eye candy at delishbead etsy shop. who knows maybe you will find the perfect bead for that project you've been working on....

beautiful butterflies mini album

how about a few photos for march's class? okies.
this picture doesnt do those butterflies justice. or the whole album for that matter, but its a start. this class will have tons of glittering and alcohol inking yumminess. BUT, the coolest thing is that the entire album is pieced from 6x12 sheets of cardstock. once you learn how to make this book you will be able to construct your very own mini albums with only a few sheets of cardstock!!!

I implimented loads of little pockets and accordians that are secured with magnetic disks. so many secrets. shhhhh.....

those are photo mats for you to simply slide a photo under and have the purple patterned paper and the butterflies sit on top of your photo. i just love the colors. they make me happy.
class info goes a little like this:
Beautiful Butterflies Mini Album
Date: Saturday - March 28th
Time: 2:00pm - 4:30pm
Fee: $25
anywho, this is going to be a super jamming class and i really am looking forward to teaching this class. if you're in the bay area and would like to take the class contact:

there will also be kits avaliable (i think?), but i'm not 100% sure on the cost. i will do an update later on about the cost and/or you can call the store and i'm sure Vivian will be able to help you with that inquery.

quickie

i did a few layouts for MLO recently and this one is the only one i seem to have gotten a picture of. i quite like how it turned out. the alpha particularly. its all the same alpha: thickers "typo" in peacock.

the world "old" is covered in distress stickles in vintage photo. this is my 1st real incounter with the distress stickles. previously no one could really tell me what the difference was except only that it was "distress". no shit, huh? well, i think i figured out the big mystery a wee bit. first the bottle itself has a wider spout, so the glue actually is really hard to control and not ment for those fine lines that i love from conventional stickles. i actually ended up just dumping some stickles on the alpha and swirled it around until it coated them. 2ndly the glitter its self is two noticably different sized. i have no idea why, it just is. lastly, the glitter isnt shiney. its distressed. geez. i get it. i dont know how often i will use this version stickles, but its not going to give me nightmares either.

the word "new" is covered in the new american crafts ZING! embossing powder. i cant seem to find a link that explains/sells yet, but i can say that i love it after using this pale aqua color. i tested it even on black cardstock and it is still really loud. i cant wait to try the bold/primary/metalics! (ps. the powder is pretty fine, so i tryed it out with a phrase stamp. the stamp was a pretty small, quarter inch maybe, and in cursive.  it stamped and embossed beautifully.)

lastly, "inspiration" is simply covered in trusty stickles in "crystal" so you see a lot of the "peacock" color along with the glitters. yay glitters!

anywho,

not exactly a news flash...

but paris hilton pisses me off. nothing new, really. and i'm pretty confident in saying that i'm not the only one. so, what has caused me to feel compelled to bitch and moan about something so obvious? we'll, she has a new craft line coming out this spring. and for some reason unknown to me, the only images they have released regarding this collection is this:

seriously? what does this tell me? i can say it doesnt tell me to buy/use this collection. entirely too pink. i like my bling these days, but i would much rather stick with stickles and/or kaiser craft's rhinestones... ok maybe some pearls too... but, back to the rant at hand, is the line so lame that they want to boost the hype around it? did paris hilton really have a niche to fill in the scrapbook industry? do you think they will some how try to include hair extentions in her crafting kits?  is it just me who sits here and ponders this kind of crap?
maybe. happy tuesday!

new favorite stamp!

i have fallen in love with this butterfly stamp from hero arts! i submitted this card for hero arts challenge this week using favorite hero arts stamps. the flourish is embossed in a grey powder with paper layered on top and the two "heart winged butterfly"s are stamped in brillance white on elephant bazzill. saving this one for a wedding card. the inside reads "wishing you a beautiful journey together". :)

super simple valentines cards!

these cards are super simple. a blank card, the hero arts designblock: flourish stamp, clear embossing ink, a clear/glitter embossing powder, a 1x4" strip of contrasting cardstock, and a black pen. simply stamp and emboss your flourish, attach your journaling stril of cardstock, write your message, attach a rhinestone for good measure and VIOLA! you have a super simple valentine for someone special.

the inside reads "... love slave?". yea i know, i stole it off a papyrus card i saw at target a while back, but it was cute!
ok, now i have to get these bad boys in the mail. YIKES!

fanboy alert: MARAH JOHNSON!

i think i might have a crush on Marah Johnson. not as creepy as it sounds, mostly, but i think she's my favorite "scrapbook person" that i've met to date.

earlier this week, Vivian from Memories Live On asked if i wanted to join the class that Marah would be teaching this weekend. hey, why not? i'm not really the kid that takes a lot of classes, but it was something to do and the sample intrigued me and i accepted her gracious offer.

1st off, Marah was NOT what i expected. from the other class samples i have seen of her's i didnt expect such a spit fire. (dont judge a book by its cover, right?!) she used the word ARTIST, which i love more than anything. she really is an artist and is amazingly creative. but thats me getting ahead of myself. while i do think that everything she has created is beautiful, most of it wasnt exactly "up my alley". before the class, i checked out her blog a touch, but just a couple posts. i didnt look into her lines with creative imagination. about half way through her class and listening to what she was about a bit, it dawned on me that she was the one who made some of my favorite transparencies EVAR! (and the line that goes with it)

so much my favorite, that its in its own special folder and still unused. maybe i will use it this week in honor or meeting her...

anywho, so here is what we did today. or at least the front of it.

i really like it and had loads of fun making it. (the ultimate personal goal when i'm teaching a class is for my students to have a good time!) i'm going to work on it a bit more. get some photos and recipes in it. and then i think i will leave it off at memories live on for a few months to inspire others. feel free to stop by and check it out!!! (well, give me a few days 1st...) will post the inside before i take it to the store now that i think about it. anywho... lata!

skipping some small things...

but sticking out a super cold! hooray. erm. ok. anywho, so stuffy and weak, but not tired. i want to do stuff. i've knitted all day and did some light cleaning, but i know this cold is a direct result of sleeping 2-4hours each night for over two weeks. half insomnia and half just me working on projects. so, i learned my lesson and have been trying to catch up on sleep. i got naps this afternoon, but i've been sleeping in the spare bedroom, which isnt a horrible bed, but its not like sleeping my bed. BUT, i've been avoiding that because i dont want to breath sickness all over husband and child. i think tonight i might just crash out on the couch whilst watching harry potter. my favorite pass time.

anywho, i have super fun stuff coming up. we're having a valentines cookie decorating party with some of the boy's friends. i have a bit of an icing delima. i cant decide what to use. i have a recipe for "sugar cookie" frosting, but it takes a long time to set which might prove to be entirely too much of a mess for 3 toddlers. so, here is a poll. need helps! let me know!!!

i was also planning on making valentines cupcakes to send with husband to work. because thats how i roll. i was seeking a super yum chocolate cupcake with a thick chocolate frosting with candy cane hearts on top!!! i have loads of mini candy canes let, so how could i not?

anywho, i think i will clean off the bar a little. not exactly a high impact chore but will make me feel better. i need to save my energy to do the dishes tomorrow. woots.

holly*
