so very tired...

i some how just plain old wore myself out today. not sure how. sure i cleaned, cooked, cut, played, folded, and a meriad of other things. but thats all in a day's work. i might be a little on the sad side. husband has been gone for a week and is currently en route to japan. i always tend to worry when he travels. habbit. and then, i get sad when i worry and tired when i get sad. vicious cycle, but minor. i hope to make it an early night tonight. i hope.

on an up note, i'm almost ready to start listing my goods over at etsy.com. i've been working on policies and shipping and what not. still a little tweeking with my shipping policies and i need to photo my completed goods to actually make the listings, but i do what i can between the boogerbear's demands. i also printed and doodled a big fat stack of business cards today. they're plain but cute. before the offical grand opening of my shop i hope to complete a few more personal touches. i wanted to do some tags and some cutsie packaging and maybe scrap a store banner and scan it in. maybe i have enough energy to do that tonight. maybe.

anywho, hope all is well. i think i'll go watch something mindless on television.

another resolution post

i think resolutions are kinad lame. mostly because everyone always makes completely UNfun resolutions like: loose weight, quit smoking, go to the gym more, organized your desk, yada, yada, yada. despite my dislike, i am going to make resolutions this year. but on three levels of holly*fun.

on the lowest level of fun we have the oh-so-common loose weight. i would really like to continue what i started last year and drop another 20-40lb. other then being a healthy person (which my health stats, minus the number that shows up on the scale, already say i am), i really want to drop the 1st "baby weight" gain in order to have a clean slate for the next baby to work with. yes, i said it. THE NEXT BABY! getting knocked up is definately NOT a resolution for this year, BUT i would just like to be physically prepared for it when we decide to make an addition to the king family.

on the middle rung i have something i'm highly interested in doing but have been delayed thanks to an over-active devil toddler: stocking an etsy.com shop. you guys know all about that. heck, i even have another blog dedicated to it. so, enough about that.

on the top shelf of resolutions, i have one that is for me and a little for anyone who enters my home. i resolve to always have fresh flowers in my home. i know its trival and something most people do all the time, BUT with a "budget" (HA!) and a toddler and other things on your mind, flowers arent something a person considers for themself. but i like cut-flowers dangit! they make me happy. i can sit here and examine a vase of flowers until i find the words i was thinking of, until i calm down from something pissing me off, as i take a mental break from being a mommy/grown-up, etc... so, i will always have a vase of flowers on our table welcoming myself, my family and my friends into my home.

oh, part2 of top-shelf resolution is to post my weekly-ish bouquet to share with all of my cyberspace pals. so, here is my 1st two batches of flowers:

tulips (my favorite and courtesy of my mother) welcomed in the new year.

next i aquired a mixed bouquet from my favorite local flower place in santa cruz (the flower shack):

pretty flowers depite the bad lighting, but i will work on my photography skills more as a learn to use my new camera.

ok.

So, there has been a change in the game plan. I’m in full assault spring-cleaning mode. For normal people this happens in the spring. For me it occurs about the time I start thinking about fitting into this summer’s swimsuit…. What does this mean for my new pet blog and me? It means that I have projects coming out of my wazoo and a full plate of doing pointless but pleasing around the house duties. So, here is the change in the game plan, I’m tracking my cooking improvements along with my home improvements. Tomorrow I'm starting with my son’s nursery. There are a lot of people out there who take care of the baby’s room BEFORE the baby shows up… not me. I leave it until it suits my fancy. And oh am I ready. Tomorrow will be interesting. Not only that, but I have some sewing to work on. I finally took my new sewing machine out of the box, so I suppose it's time to get that baby burning.

my adventure into the land of quality cooking & baking

So, in the past year my life has changed 10-fold. I went from the carefree, fly by night lifestyle of someone who is single and baggage free to the housefrau, supermom you see before you now. And I’m loving every moment of it. As I settle into my new lifestyle, I find most of my time spent cooking, cleaning, and finding crafty mediums to outlet my creativity. One thing I can say about myself, is that when I choose to do something, I give 110%. As the year has gone by, I have been exposed to foods and wines that I would have never indulged in, in my past life as a Kraft mac and cheese eating, spaghetti-O loving, ranch dressing slathering, soda guzzling little miss. But, looking at my palette today, one might ALMOST consider me a foodie. There is a problem with my new found tastes though, my husband and I had been finding all of our quality meals out of our household kitchen. With a new house and baby in tow, $200+ dinners are just not to be a weekly occurrence. So, my solution has been to learn to do it myself. My journey starts here and I hope to grow into a quality cook/baker to bring pleasure and incredible meals to my dinner table.
